Rheaume Lake- Fly Far North
Rheaume Lake
Click on the map for a larger versionRheaume is our most northerly oupost at 105 miles northwest. Rheaume and East Rheaume provide 3300 acres of shallow waterway. Another 4300 acres exists in the 4 portage lakes to provide the adventurous fisherman with more great walleye/northern fishing. One can fish for walleye and northern right beside the cabin or fifteen miles down the lake. The large, 8 person, frame cabin offers 2 bedrooms and a bunkroom with woodstove and a kitchen and sitting area combination. Hot/cold sink and shower, as in all the cabins, is present in this one as well. A deck attached to the front of the cabin makes for great relaxation with the beautiful views to the lake. The forest, behind the cabin, is a magical place. The trees allow the sunlight to stream down onto the bright green mosses that make up the forest floor, in shadowy streaks. You might note this as you are heading to the out building situated there!
Our Story by Jeff Elkins, Dick Asbell Group July 1-8, 2005
Caught in Rheaume on July 7, 2005. I caught a 14 " walleye. Just as I got him to the boat, this northern hit at the boat. He stayed on the line for awhile, then he let go of the walleye. I threw my lure back a couple times with one follow. I threw back out and caught him. It took about 10 minutes to land. I was fishing with Dick Asbell.
"If Jeff Elkins can catch a 42' northern in Reaume, Anyone can!!!!", comment from Fred Flintstone.
